As with a lot of country borderlines, the Scottish borders have seen the rise and fall of many conflicts and invasions throughout the centuries, and as such the area is dotted with castles, abbeys and old border towns, each with their own piece of history to uncover. As well as this, the Scottish borders are rich in scenic variety, from rich farmland and abundant rivers to quiet forests and fantastic hilltop vistas.
