Bicycle Hire for Your Cycling Holiday

We don’t offer bike hire ourselves at Contours Holidays, but if you’re short on bicycles for your adventure, we can recommend some great hire companies based near any of our trails.

For expert bike hire advice, get in touch. Make sure to include which holiday you’re interested in, any modifications you intend to make to our standard itinerary, the type of bike you want to hire, and when you plan to ride.

What type of bike is suitable?

Under the main description of each holiday, we recommend the type of bicycle we think best suits the route. But there's a degree of personal preference in decisions like these, so we also provide information on the trail surfaces and obstacles you can expect to encounter on your ride.

You’ll find a summary of our recommendations at the bottom of each holiday description, and our more in-depth explanation under the Elevation & Terrain tab for each holiday itinerary.

Wondering how you’ll carry your luggage?

Contours Holidays include daily luggage transfers as standard, so you only need to consider how to carry lunch, water, spare layers and a tool kit with you each day. That should take some pressure off!

We generally recommend bags that mount to your bicycle rather than rucksacks to keep the load off your shoulders. Panniers can be cumbersome on off-road routes, so fork-mounted and in-frame bags may be worth looking into.

Some bike hire shops will provide bags, although they may be basic. If you don't have your own bags, let your hire company know your requirements before you book your bikes.
